On Sunday, December 12, 2021, the Central Florida Chapter will be holding the chapter’s holiday party at Wekiva Island to ring in the Christmas season. Join other chapter members, family, friends for a day of natural Florida fun and an evening holiday activities including a catered dinner. Admission to the park and party is $40 for adults, $15 for children (ages 4-17), FREE for children ages 3 and under , and, for Chapter members, a discounted rate as a membership benefit for them, their spouse and children. Chapter Member Benefit Discount

All Penn State Alumni Association, Central Florida Chapter members and their immediate family members (i.e. spouse and children) will receive a discount on admission to our party. Adult members receive a 25% off discount (savings of $10 each), and member’s children receive a 33% off discount (savings of $5 each). All children ages 3 and under are FREE!!! If you are not a member, join today by paying the dues in our LionShop and take advantage of this member benefit.

8AM: Park opens

Come early and enjoy nature on land or by river. Rent a vessel for the day for a waterway getaway. Get your competitive juices flow by joining in for a few games of sand volleyball. Take a dip in the river to chill off after the game. Take a stroll on the boardwalk while sipping on your favorite craft beer and wine. Can’t wait for dinner? 9AM-7PM: Snow Flurries

And they said it doesn’t snow in Florida. Periodically throughout the day, enjoy the swirling tropical flurries floating through the air to put you in the Christmas mood. Noon-4:30PM: Guest Check-In

At noon, our check-in for guests opens in our Chapter’s private space in the Mike Barr Education & Learning Center, plus Sanctuary Deck. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available for guests as they arrive with wrist bands given for the catered dinner. We recommend that you do not wait to check-in as to avoid long lines later.

Noon-5PM: Photos with Santa & Mrs. Claus

Santa and Mrs. Claus arrives on their sleigh at noon. Get a chance for you and your children to meet the big guy and his better half, and get that photo op to put on your refrigerator. 4PM-5PM: Wekiva River Sleigh Rides

This isn’t just for Santa and Mrs. Claus. You’ll have an opportunity to ride in style on this river sleigh. Additional costs do apply (Adults $20, Children 10 & under $10). 4:30PM-6:30PM: Private catered dinner

7:00PM: Movie in the Christmas Tree Forest

Following dinner, join all guests in the Christmas Tree Forest for a movie under the stars. On a large, inflatable screen, we will enjoy the holiday comedy “The Santa Clause” to close out the night. Wekiva Island is a little over 20 minutes from downtown Orlando on the southeastern side of Wekiva Springs State Park. Below is a map showing its location. If you would like to set your GPS to get there, the address for Wekiva Island is 1014 Miami Springs Drive, Longwood, FL 32779.

Each guest will be a little different on what their needs are, but here are a few suggestions on what you may want to bring.

Tailgate chairs
Blanket
Sunscreen
Bug spray
Volleyball, frisbee, etc.
Change of clothes (if planning on taking advantage of the water or for pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus)

Keep an eye on the forecast for the day to make sure you and your family dress appropriately for not just the day, but also the evening.
